Yay! Another potato photo to see! This time Samuel has sent us a photo of his potato. What do you think?

This poem was written by Rose about her cat, Monty.

Well, as promised, James has emailed us a photo of his potato plant. He says that it is about 8.5 cm tall. How tall is yours?

Well now Jacob’s gotten into the act and has sent me a picture of his potato growing. What do you think, is it better looking than mine?
James has also sent a message saying that his potato plant is 8.5 cms high at the moment. He’s going to try and get a photo for us to see
Well, it looks like Gem thinks she’s found something interesting!
Yes, it’s Miss Crosby’s Spud in a Bucket, finally showing some green! I was beginning to think that I’d killed it from the start. Hopefully, it’ll like its new home by the back door in the warm spring sunlight. It’s definitely one of my favourite spots!
Hopefully your potato is growing well also, though not as well as mine
Room 7 children have been very busy over the last few weeks working on their travel brochures for different parts of the solar system.
These are what they’ve come up with:
We had our Junior Athletics at school today – a wonderful warm Canterbury day, though unfortunately a couple of us forgot our sunblock and ended up a little pink!
Here are some more photos of the children.
The term is rapidly progressing and I’m amazed by some of the things that are happening in Room Seven at the moment. One of my favourite topics is Visual Art, and I’m pleased this term that we’re really getting a chance to explore. Our topic is Exploring Line and we’ve started by looking at the work of Tracey Tawhiao – a New Zealand artist whose work includes the use of acrylic, newspaper, and pastels. An interesting combination. Some of her work can be seen here ( http://www.toi.co.nz/ArtGallery.aspx?ArtistId=34&ArtistName=Tracey%20Tawhiao )
My apologies to Jacob – I got a wonderful email from him showing a great site about Ancient Greece. Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance until now to update our blog to show the site. It is http://www.mystery-productions.info/hyper/Hypermedia_2003/Miller/AM_hypermedia/Artifact/
Finally, in our homework this week there is a maths worksheet related to lines of symmetry. I have also found a couple of useful websites for exploring symmetry.

Well, last week before I became horribly ill (not a pleasant sight at all, I can assure you!) we began looking at the Ancient Olympics.
Here are a few websites with good information on the original Games:
I’d like to encourage you to explore some of these websites (with your parents permission of course!) and see if you can find anything surprising – something you might not have expected. If you find any other websites you think should be added to this list, please let me know
Happy hunting!
Miss C.
Hi Everyone!
Well, we’ve almost started the new term, and I am certainly looking forward to a term of exciting learning!
In your homework this week, I have suggested looking at some websites for games to do with fractions. Here are some more suggestions…
If you know of any other great fractions games, please email me with the address so I can add it to our blog!
Have a great week!
Miss Crosby
